LEDGER LITERACY

We should never be made to feel guilty about expanding our financial education. However, stereotypes, taboos, and myths keep us playing small instead of ambitiously learning more. Knowledge is needed to gain money; both are forms of power.

I’ve experienced low income and studied systematic inequity. My experiences are direct contributors to my drive to teach financial literacy to the underrepresented.

In today’s environment, there’s nothing more powerful than the freedom that accompanies an applied financial education. Take back your power.

The role of a financial guide

As your financial guide, I help you understand why you feel the way you do about money, create, test, and adjust a budget, learn how to manage your money, recognize spending trends, and set and achieve financial goals.

I do not provide investment guidance, tax, or legal advice. I can, however, help find professionals to assist in these areas.

Financial guidance may be for you if any of these resonate:

  • No one taught me about money. I don’t know where to start.

  • It’s “rude” to talk about money, so I don’t have anyone to ask.

  • I’m afraid to look at my debt and don’t know how much I owe.

  • I don’t understand how to make a budget or stick to one.

  • I don’t understand why I struggle to save money.

  • I make more money now, but I still don’t know where it goes by the end of the month
